Working as an outreach of AICM, is a very special ministry called the Apache Christian Connection (ACC). Kenny and Celia Culbertson conduct this mobile outreach ministry by driving
the “Blue Bus”, a converted school bus, to over 20 locations on the White Mountain Apache Reservation. The Cubertsons and the visiting Ministry Teams that often accompany
them, provide Biblical teaching through stories, songs, and crafts to relate to the children how much Jesus loves and cares for them. After the lessons, they have games and play time for the
children.
For most visiting Ministry Teams, regardless of their age, an afternoon of being a part of this ministry on the reservation is one of the most memorable afternoons of their
trip. Being able to play and interact with the kids, to see the living conditions, and understand a little bit more of the Apache culture, is often a life changing and spiritually defining event.
So Much More Than just play.....
Through the Apache Christian Connection, AICM has built relationships of trust and respect with the children, their families, local pastors, and tribal leaders. With the help of visiting Ministry
Teams, ACC conducts VBS programs at churches or in the neighborhoods across the reservation during the summer. The ministry also assists with Camp Meetings, conducts distributions of clothing,
food, school supplies, blankets, toys, and other various supplies throughout the year. The Blue Bus transports the children to AICM for a week of camp or for a weekend retreat. Food boxes and
firewood is delivered to families when needed as well. They participate in the local parades on the reservation, which is always well received partially due to the over 100lbs of candy being
tossed out. Vital to ACC is the commitment to always build and keep good connections with the all the communities.
When the AICM School started in 1985, our student population was entirely Navajo children. Because of the impact of ACC ministry there are now many Apache students as well.
Please pray that God will continue to use His ministry through ACC to reach more children for His kingdom, as well as to allow Kenny and Celia, to minister to families as well as
to the children.
Please take time to pray for Apache Christian Connection as they minister to well over 400 children each month. May these young people become disciples for Christ to help reach their own peoples.
